DEE W. SCHOFIELD

The humorous writing of Dee. W. Schofield

  • Nov 16

Welcome to everyone who happens to stumble past here. Unless you were directed here by Dean, you have far too much time on your hands.

This web site is for novelist and short story writer, Dee W. Schofield. (Shhhhh…. don’t tell anyone, but Dee is actually an open pen name for the bestselling writer Dean Wesley Smith.) I will be posting updates on the progress of getting one of many novels published.

And who knows, maybe I will even put up here an original short story or two as time goes on.

Right now, I (meaning me, Dee Schofield) have two novels out on editor’s desks. One is a science fiction romance called Dust and Kisses. After a time, I will serialize the entire novel here, so stay tuned for that. It’s pretty decent if I do say so myself, even though one reader said it had too many dead bodies in it to be a romance. I don’t think that’s an issue anymore in the world of zombie romance with parts falling off.

A second novel I have out is called Subway Martians, a humorous science fiction romance, called paranormal these days. Following is the short blurb about the book. Hope you enjoy and will stop by at times. I’ll try to keep it interesting.

    Best in snarkness, Dee

    Subway Martians

Hundreds of feet underground, hurtling through the dark at seventy miles an hour, subway drivers see things no other humans see. Kimberly Oakley, subway driver and eBay doll seller, has seen her share of strange things over the years, but never before a Martian, especially one with blond hair, a perfect business suit, deep blue eyes, and a desire to die. She mows him down with her train as he smiles at her like he’s trying to pick her up.

    Turns out, he was.

But not just for sex. He wanted much, much more from her.

Can a doll collector and a Martian find true love?

    Maybe after the invasion.

Product Focused Might Be Truly Evil… (grin) Not really kidding that much. The more I think about how being product focused causes so many writing issues, the more I see how it has invaded just about everything in fiction writing the last few years. And I was no exception to that at times in how […] […]

  • Some Reminders on This Friday May 19, 2018
Updates and New Stuff… Just wanted to mention some new workshop stuff and remind people that some things are ending. I know it is smack in the middle of the time of great forgetting, but sometimes workshops or planning for workshops can help keep a little focus on the writing during these months. So first […] […]

  • Product Focused vs Process Focused. May 18, 2018
A Nasty Problem of Early Writers… I hear this all the time. Writers, especially indie writers the last few years, have focused on the finished product. And I must admit, that is how we keep score in this new world. Numbers of books and stories equals more readers and more money and so on. But […] […]

  • The Reader Perception May 17, 2018
Never Tell Anyone That You Write One Draft Clean… But Dean, why do you say that because you teach it here and talk about it all the time?? The reason? This is a writer-focused site at the moment. And writer’s seldom buy my books (except to see how bad it really is because I wrote […] […]

  • Online Workshops Update May 16, 2018
All Kinds of Stuff Going On… First off, since no one was signed up in June for the Weekender Pop-up Workshops, we have cancelled those. However, the entire group of them, plus two more will return in the fall, after the time of great forgetting. The Indie Game workshop turned out to be a stunner […] […]
